印章，亦称图章，用作印于文件上表示鉴定或签署的文具，一般印章都会先沾上颜料再印上，不沾颜料、印上平面后会呈现凹凸的称为钢印，有些是印于蜡或火漆上、信封上的蜡印。制作材质有 金属、木头、石头、玉石等。

此印章字迹清晰，书写精美独特，为罕见的九叠篆，此印文为‘永和县印’此印在唐朝时期就有出现，而九叠篆盛行与宋朝，唐朝以肥为美，而这枚印章更符合宋代风格，其背面刻熙宁三年，正是北宋时期的年号，历时千年，具有极高的收藏价值。
九叠篆，是一种非常特别的篆书，原本是一种流行于宋代的“国朝官印”字体，主要用于印章镌刻，其笔画折叠堆曲，均匀对称。每一个字的折叠多少，则视笔画的繁简确定，有五叠、六叠、七叠、八叠、九叠、十叠之分。之所以称为“九叠”，则是因“九是数之终，言其多也”。
九叠篆非必九叠，有六叠、七叠、十叠不等。视印文笔画繁简而定。九叠形容折叠之多。创自宋代。明朝甘旸《印章集说·国朝印》：“国朝官印文用九叠而朱，以曲屈平满为主，不类秦汉制。
印面刻熙宁三年少府监重铸印，这枚印章早在唐朝时就拥有了，这枚应当属于北宋的重铸印章，改朝换代，而县名未改，故而进行了重铸，其字体与唐朝的永和县印一致，都是九叠篆，印章表面氧化出黑漆古包浆，表现开门到代，字迹刀刻痕迹明显，为真品无疑，此印章品相完美，无磕无残，具有极高的收藏价值。
